Below are the instructions for the box cover. You need to fold the origami box for the base.
Once you've folded the origami box, follow the steps below to fold the cover.
Origami Box with Cover Step 1: Start with a 6 inch (15cm) square origami paper, color side down.
Origami Box with Cover Step 2: Fold the paper into half, on both the horizontal and vertical axis. Crease well and unfold.
Origami Box with Cover Step 3: We'll now fold the 4 corners into the center.
Origami Box with Cover Step 4: Now this is the step that differs from the origami box. Instead of folding both the top and bottom edges to meet at the center, we'll fold the bottom and top edges to almost the center, approximately 1/8" or 2-3mm from the center. Crease well and unfold.
This will make the cover slightly larger than the base.
Origami Box with Cover Step 5: Now fold the right and left edges to almost the center, approximately 1/8" or 2-3mm from the center. Crease well and unfold.
Origami Box with Cover Step 6: Now unfold the left and right sides.
Rotate 90 degrees:
Origami Box with Cover Step 7: Now we'll make the reverse folds like you've done for the origami box.
